JOB SUMMARY:
The Digital Workplace Platform Manager oversees a team dedicated to designing, implementing and managing technology solutions that enable the Southern Company workforce to be productive from any location, whether urban centers or remote areas. Utilizing virtualization and mobile device management platforms, this team ensures seamless access to essential data and applications, empowering employees to effectively serve our customers across the entire Southern Company footprint.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
B.S. degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or another related field, is preferred.
Extensive knowledge of end-user technology related disciplines, with a strong focus on virtualization and mobile technologies and supporting infrastructure. This primarily includes Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops, Windows 365, Workspace ONE, Apple and Android devices along with the underlying infrastructure, processes, and techniques currently considered industry best practices. The candidate must be knowledgeable on current and emerging relevant industry related products and trends.
The ideal candidate is an experienced manager with a background in managing technology teams. Demonstrated experience managing operations including new technology deployments, infrastructure advances, and communicating changes to enterprise users.
A positive attitude is crucial. The candidate must prioritize quality and the technology experience of business partners. The Digital Workplace Platform Manager should challenge current practices to improve operations and service delivery, promoting change within their team and across technological fields.
Strong business acumen is crucial. The role involves offering technology solutions that deliver business value. The Digital Workplace Platforms Manager needs to stay updated on trends in virtualization and mobile technologies and understand their benefits for the business.
Excellent vendor / supplier management skills. The candidate needs to be able to work closely with our vendor partners to understand emerging trends, improve our service offerings and hold them accountable for the service level quality to which they contractually committed. The candidate should be able to interface with technology vendors to define roadmaps, escalate issues, and solve complex problems.
Experience creating technology budgets, fiscal management, and how to appropriately estimate costs and plan for ongoing technology projects and maintenance. Must understand basic budgetary principles and techniques, being able to distinguish, plan, and oversee capital and expense budgets.
Excellent analytical, problem solving, planning, and project management skills.
Ability to prioritize and deal with multiple priorities for multiple people
Proven track record of achieving results individually and working with and through others. Demonstrated ability to mentor and coach junior individuals to improve delivery skills and value delivery.
Must be a proven change leader, committed to driving cultural and behavioral improvements for technology use across Southern Company.

MAJOR JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Digital Workplace Platforms Manager leads teams responsible for architecting, engineering, and managing end-user virtualization and mobility solutions at Southern Company. Core technologies include Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops, Windows 365, Workspace ONE, Apple and Android devices, and support for VPN services. This team handles product selection, solution design, security, patching, support and functional oversight.
The Digital Workplace Platforms Manager is expected to be strategic with virtualization and mobile computing technologies. They should create a long-term vision, strategies to support it, and tactical steps to achieve it over multiple years. They must work closely with business partners to understand requirements, determine solutions and measure success based on the business value achieved.
The Digital Workplace Platforms Manager evaluates market trends, assesses value, and creates business cases for new functionalities. Upon approval, they oversee implementation, ensuring smooth integration and confirmed value for business partners.
The Digital Workplace Platforms Manager will oversee technical support, ensuring effective issue resolution and automation to reduce manpower requirements and drive consistency. They will update workflows and processes for maximum efficiency, review support metrics to identify and resolve systemic issues and use data proactively to enhance technology value.
The Digital Workplace Platforms Manager will attract, develop, retain, and manage a geographically diverse team of technical staff including full-time employees and contractors. This role involves overseeing additional contract support for project activities, handling hiring, performance management, terminations, and providing daily work direction, feedback and coaching direct reports.
The Digital Workplace Platforms Manager will be responsible for budgetary oversight of the virtualization, mobile device management platform and team budget.
