The Lead Production Designer contributes to REI's success by leading a team of Production Designers. The Lead Production Designer knows the intricacies of the REI brand guidelines and partners to ensure design elements are consistently applied and generally follow prescribed formats and processes. Accountable for the execution of creative design in support of advertising and other communication material for multi-channel execution of creative concepts. Models and acts in accordance with REI's guiding values and mission and works with Manager to brainstorm new technologies and methodologies to elevate the work.

  • Manages deadlines and project details through regular and ongoing communication with Project Managers and Production Manager.
  • Collaborates with project management to keep project on track and on schedule and assists with timeline development.
  • Helps maintain consistency in Marketing collateral by adhering to style and format guidelines.
  • Helps ensure quality and accuracy by proofing own work and revising materials according to feedback on proofs.

  • Communicates with appropriate department personnel to confirm and complete tasks.
  • Develops, records, and maintains REI's Production standards in accordance with industry standards, and by nurturing relationships with Print Production team, Post-Production Imaging, Creative partners, business partners, and vendors
  • Proactively reinforce the implementation of new departmental processes
  • Provide mentoring on an as needed basis to team members on project based best practices.
  • Work with Manager to identify efficiencies and eliminate waste in the spirit of Lean.
  • Work with resource management and manager to ensure projects are assigned and load balanced.
  • Work with Manager to foster a positive team morale and look for ways to celebrate accomplishments.
  • Meets deadlines for assigned projects.
Responsibilities:
  • 6-8 year's Post-production, and Production-design.
  • Bachelor's Degree preferred
  • Advanced skills in current Adobe Creative Suite including InDesign, Acrobat, Photoshop and Illustrator. Knowledge in Figma a plus.
  • Experience with digital and animated media
  • Experience with dynamic automated workflows, variable printing, and emerging technologies
  • Demonstrated knowledge in creating communications through all avenues of print and digital execution.
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot each project to identify and find innovative solutions to remedy potential production issues.
  • Ability to follow brand guidelines and employ technical skills and knowledge to check for accuracy and consistency in layout and text formatting
  • Partner with Project Management and Print Production to ensure efficient, high-quality file delivery
  • Management of file structure and naming standards in a Mac based network environment.
  • Ability to organize, multitask and prepare accurate files
  • Actively participates and collaborates with others on one's own team and across REI for the achievement of business goals.
  • Flexible in one's viewpoints and positions to support the direction taken by others at REI.
