The mission of GWU Hospital is to provide the highest quality of healthcare, advanced medical technology, and world class service to its patients in an academic medical center dedicated to education and research POSITION SUMMARYFulfills the needs of patients, families and community by providing Occupational Therapy services in accordance with his/her licensure, certification, training, and regulatory requirements. Responds effectively to new and changing work assignments. Seeking a Occupational Therapist with a passion for treating the lymphedema and oncology population. In this role, the Occupational Therapist will treat patients with general lyphedema conditions as well as lyphedema due to cancer.Evaluates selected diagnoses accurately using basic techniques in acute care and rehabiltation. Asks for clarification of orders from physicians, and request consult from other OT's as needed. Considers all aspects of the patients needs including the physical, psychosocial, developmental,and cultural.Develops and implements treatment plans using appropriate problem-solving skill, and clinical reasoning.Documents evaluations, progress notes and discharge notes in a clear and concise manner, consistent with department policies and KOTA/AOTA.Supervises Level 1 students independently. Supervises level 2 students after one of clinical experience, with assistance from the Student Coordinator as needed.Meets all District of Columbia requirements for continuing education. Maintains current CPR certification.
