The Packaging Engineer is responsible for the end-to-end execution of packaging projects and daily tasks relevant to the development of local industrial new packaging development briefs and activities.
This position serves as a first touch point for all the area activities across products, categories, of Peanut Base brands. This person will report to the North America Packaging Manager FMC and support the industrial operation in Franklin Park IL, and Copackers repacking Peanut Base candies across NA. This person will be based in Franklin Park, IL as part of the Packing Engineering Hub in the Midwest.
• Leads packaging development and industrialization plans for brands assigned across North America, meeting brief timings, cost, and quality requirements
• Evaluates technical and economic feasibility studies during the projects’ industrialization phase and develops new proposals to optimize industrial setup pertaining to packaging lines
• Contributes to define project objectives (technical choices, materials, solutions) according to the local industrial reality and suppliers’ portfolio and technologies
• Optimizes existing projects and products for the assigned brand across North America, analyzing possible improvements to contribute to pipeline building and reduce complexity, and validates industrial feasibility
• Manages productivity projects across plants and brands in scope
• Manages and governs de-risking procedures and projects for assigned brands
• Analyses and validates cost estimations to support project setup from an economic point of view
• Leads implementation of project and specifications documentation, both for industrial and copacker environments
• Activates, if in his/her field of competence, and manages packaging line trials
• Represents the Packaging department during local meeting or towards external entities (suppliers) to activate programs focused on new solutions (e.g.: materials, technologies and processes).
• Ensures, through a structured governance system, an information sharing process among all the necessary stakeholders as it relates to the projects under management
• Partners with the leadership team of a major Ferrero industrial plant, representing the interests, responsibilities and voice of the Packaging development team
• The ideal candidate has 5 years plus of experience as a packaging specialist/designer.
• Bachelor’s Degree is required, M.S. is preferred;
• Project management, problem-solving, decision-making, and critical-thinking skills are considered as mandatory for the role;
• Good communication and interpersonal skills;
• Flexibility, adaptability and aptitude to team-work;
• Availability to travel 10% of the time
• Knowledge of standard packaging materials and Packaging industrials technologies.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to deal with people from all levels & different departments
• Strong Presentation and analytical skills
• Ability to work in both a team environment and independently
• Advanced knowledge of
o AutoCAD/ArtiosCAD (mechanical technical drawing);
o CAPE
o MS Office (Excel, Power Point, Word);
o Knowledge of SAP.
The base salary range for this position is $90,770.00 - $121,027.00 annually. Actual compensation will be determined based on experience, qualifications, and other job-related factors permitted by law. This range represents the anticipated salary for this position at this time.
