Your Role: Motivator, Guide, and Peer Partner
As a Recovery Coach (RC), you’ll be a trusted support for individuals at all stages of recovery. You’ll partner with participants to explore their goals, connect to critical services, and develop wellness plans that reflect their unique strengths and values. This Full-Time position, allows you the opportunity to make a real impact in the lives of others—one conversation, connection, and step at a time.
What You’ll Achieve
Support Recovery Through Connection and Trust
Meet participants in person at locations that feel safe and accessible—recovery centers, cafés, public spaces, and more.
Build authentic, supportive relationships grounded in shared experience and mutual respect.
Encourage participants to define their own goals and recovery pathway—honoring a “multiple pathways to recovery” philosophy.
Develop Plans That Reflect Individual Strengths
Collaborate with participants to create personalized wellness and recovery plans.
Help identify and strengthen roles in their lives—like parent, friend, employee, or student—that contribute to self-worth and identity.
Match participants with the resources and services they need, from housing and employment to mental health and community support.
Navigate Systems and Reduce Barriers
Offer consistent peer support as participants engage with complex systems, including healthcare, behavioral health, and legal services.
Ensure smooth referrals and follow-ups while empowering participants to take the lead in their recovery journey.
Provide transportation support when necessary and assist with navigating public resources.
Maintain Professional Standards and Accountability
Complete all participant-related documentation and reports accurately and on time.
Submit weekly timesheets, time accountability logs, and mileage documentation.
Respect all confidentiality guidelines and agency policies related to client privacy.
Attend required trainings, group supervisions (monthly), and individual supervisions (bi-monthly).
Represent GAAMHA in the community with professionalism, empathy, and integrity.
Performs additional responsibilities, as delegated by supervisory personnel, to ensure the continuity of service delivery and the fulfillment of GAAMHA’s mission and organizational objectives.
What Sets You Apart
Lived Experience and Empathy
You may be in recovery yourself and know firsthand how powerful peer support can be. (A minimum of two years of sustained recovery is required if applicable.)
Skills That Build Trust
Open-minded and nonjudgmental, especially in supporting multiple paths to recovery.
Strong listener with the ability to connect and relate without fixing or directing.
Organized and reliable—able to manage documentation and schedule independently.
Education & Requirements
High school diploma or GED required.
Completion of CCAR Recovery Coach Academy and Ethics training preferred—or equivalent peer recovery training approved by the MA Board of Substance Abuse Counselor Certification.
Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and a mobile phone are required.
Must be able to pass a CORI background check.

Who You’ll Support
You’ll report to the Recovery Coach Supervisor and work closely with GAAMHA’s peer and clinical teams to make sure every participant receives the care, support, and encouragement they need to move forward.
