About Rocky Mountain Prep

We are Rocky Mountain Prep, a network of twelve public charter schools in the Denver metro area serving students from twelve weeks old through twelfth grade. But we are more than schools—we are a movement of educators, families, and advocates transforming public education and expanding access to college and career opportunities for historically marginalized communities.

Driven by our pillars of Rigor and Love , we strive to ensure every student is known, loved, and prepared for academic and personal success. Our community lives by our PEAK values Perseverance, Excellence, Adventure, and Kindness —and we aim to be the highest-performing school system in Colorado.

Who We’re Looking For

We seek mission-driven educators who lead with heart, maintain high expectations, and believe deeply in the potential of every student. You’re reflective in your practice, responsive to feedback, and passionate about providing consistent, joyful learning experiences—even on short notice.

The Opportunity

As a Flexible Substitute Teacher , you’ll serve as a consistent presence across RMP campuses, stepping into classrooms to provide high-quality instruction when a lead teacher is out. Whether you’re covering kindergarten literacy or middle school science, your presence ensures continuity, culture, and care for students.

This is a full-time, year-round position that plays a critical role in helping RMP meet its Big Five Goals for the 2024–2025 school year:

  • 85% staff retention

  • 100% of campuses “going green” and ECE–2nd grade students growing 1.25 years in math and reading

  • 100% of seniors accepted into college

  • 40% of 3rd–8th graders reaching Accelerated Reader “millionaire” goals

  • Full network enrollment met

What You’ll Do

  • Deliver standards-aligned lessons developed by lead teachers or academic teams

  • Uphold classroom culture and ensure student safety, engagement, and academic progress

  • Adapt to various grade levels, subject areas, and school cultures with professionalism and flexibility

  • Implement behavior systems, follow routines, and adhere to emergency protocols

  • Communicate clearly with school staff and provide feedback on classroom progress and student behavior

  • Serve as a valued team member across campuses and grade bands

  • Embody and model RMP’s PEAK values in every interaction

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Colorado substitute authorization or teaching license (in good standing)

  • Demonstrated classroom management skills

  • Flexibility to work across multiple schools and grade levels

  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience as a substitute teacher or full-time educator

  • Familiarity with Colorado Academic Standards or Common Core

  • Experience in a charter, urban, or mission-driven school setting

  • Bilingual proficiency (Spanish or other language) highly preferred

Core Competencies

  • Instructional Agility: Comfortably adapt to multiple subjects, grade levels, and school contexts

  • Relationship Building: Build trust and rapport with students, staff, and school leaders

  • Problem Solving: Navigate classroom challenges calmly and effectively

  • Professionalism: Demonstrate reliability, discretion, and a commitment to RMP’s mission

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

  • Able to move between classrooms and campuses throughout the day

  • Stand for extended periods; lift up to 25 lbs (e.g., supplies, books)

  • Interact frequently with students, staff, and families in a school-based setting

Why Join Rocky Mountain Prep?

At RMP, you are more than a substitute—you are a vital part of our team. You’ll receive:

  • Ongoing professional development and support

  • Consistent, full-time placement across a growing network

  • A mission-driven, inclusive workplace that prioritizes student impact and staff well-being

  • A chance to grow into a long-term instructional or leadership role
