Tax Accountant (CPA) – 1099 / Remote Contractor (Oregon)

What You'll Do

Tax Preparation & Review (~50%)

• Prepare and/or review complex individual and business tax returns
• Oversee work performed by outside contractors
• Ensure compliance with Oregon and federal tax laws
• Sign and file returns as an authorized preparer

Tax Planning Implementation (~30%)

• Execute pre-developed tax planning strategies (e.g. entity setup, stock options, retirement tax optimization)
• Assist with client planning meetings and reports

Client Relationship Management (~20%)

• Serve as point of contact for client questions and updates
• Participate in client meetings alongside firm leadership
• Provide proactive communication throughout tax season

What We're Looking For

• Active CPA license in Oregon (required)
• 10+ years of experience preparing and reviewing individual and business returns
• Mastery of tax software (Drake, ProSeries, UltraTax, or similar)
• Strong understanding of Oregon-specific tax laws and tax filing processes
• Comfortable managing client communications and explaining tax concepts
• Reliable, detail-oriented, and professional in a remote environment
• 1099 Contractor for 20-40 hours per week
• Experience implementing advanced tax planning strategies
