Insurance Authorization Specialist

As an Insurance Authorization Specialist , you’ll play a crucial role in advocating for patients by helping them navigate insurance approvals — ensuring they receive the life-changing treatment they need.

This is a high-visibility role with regular collaboration between clinical teams, administrative staff, and external healthcare providers. If you're detail-oriented, organized, and passionate about patient advocacy, this is your opportunity to make a meaningful impact.

⚠️ Please note: This role involves reviewing sensitive mental health records, including cases involving PTSD and suicidal ideation, which may be triggering for some individuals.

What You'll Do

  • Gather and review patient documentation to verify eligibility for Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) treatments
  • Coordinate with outside providers to obtain relevant medical records and patient history
  • Prepare, submit, and follow up on insurance authorization requests
  • Manage and organize incoming faxes and patient documentation
  • Represent and advocate for patients during clinical review calls with insurance providers
  • Ensure all documentation is accurately entered into the Electronic Health Record (EHR) system
  • Collaborate with clinical and administrative teams to support efficient patient care
  • Perform other administrative and operational duties as needed

Requirements

What We're Looking For

Required Qualifications:

  • Strong desire to advocate for patients and ensure access to medically necessary treatment
  • Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills
  • Ability to manage deadlines , multitask, and stay organized
  • Strong communication skills — comfortable working with clinical staff and external providers
  • High attention to detail in documenting patient and insurance information
  • Confidence using online systems, EHR platforms, and computer tools

Preferred (Not Required):

  • Experience in medical authorization, insurance coordination , or a healthcare administrative role
  • Familiarity with TMS, behavioral health, or prior authorization processes
