Job Description

FS GRAIN is a leading grain company with 80 full time employees operating in Northern Illinois. FS GRAIN operates 19 facilities with a combined storage capacity of 40 million bushels, and access to multiple grain markets, including ownership of two Class I shuttle loaders. We are an Equal Opportunity Employer.

 

Job Title: Regional Grain Scale Operator  
Location: Morris, IL (Travel to various FS locations required)  
Reports To: Scale Operations Coordinator  

Pay Scale: $17.50-$21.00 per hour  

 

About the Role:  

We are seeking a detail-oriented Regional Scale Operator to join our team. Under the direction of the Scale Operations Coordinator, you will be responsible for managing scale operations at different locations, ensuring accurate processing of inbound, outbound, and transfer tickets, and providing excellent customer service at the elevator. This role requires strong organizational skills, the ability to troubleshoot errors, and effective communication with various departments.  

 

Key Responsibilities:  

  • Operate all aspects of the scale, including weighing and grading of inbound, outbound, and transfer loads.  

  • Ensure accurate documentation of weights, grades, accounts, and freight charges.  

  • Travel to FS locations based on daily needs. Including: St. Anne, Bourbonnais, Exline, Lehigh, Ransom, Grand Ridge, Mazon, Kentland, Lisbon Center, and Serena. Morris will be the base location.  

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for scale-related inquiries, ensuring timely communication with settlement, origination, and operations teams.  

  • Assist with general customer service, including answering phones and providing information about elevator hours and ticket details.  

  • Utilize the Scale System effectively, generating reports and managing ticket processes from start to finish.  

  • Handle scale processes related to containers, ensuring proper documentation and assisting with paperwork when applicable.  

  • Attend required meetings and training sessions.  

  • Perform additional duties as assigned.  

 

Qualifications:  

  • Strong computer skills with the ability to manage digital and written records and reports.  

  • Proven experience working effectively with customers.  

  • Familiarity with cooperative philosophies and principles is a plus.  

  • Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.  

  • Ability to work independently and travel between locations.  

  • Flexibility to work extended hours when needed.
