This is a remote position.
As a Catastrophe (CAT) Property Adjuster, you’ll be responsible for investigating and managing property claims that require on-site inspections. This role involves working closely with policyholders while also maintaining effective partnerships with agents, contractors, vendors, underwriters, and other professionals. You’ll be expected to have a strong understanding of your assigned region—including its geography, state and local regulations, insurance practices, and legal requirements.
This position may be home-based or tied to one of our claims offices, but it does require frequent travel—sometimes on short notice—up to 75% of the time.
Obtain and maintain required adjuster licenses and continuing education credits.
Conduct field inspections and investigations of personal property claims.
Work independently from home or a company office as your operational base.
Handle business interruption (BI) claims alongside BI specialists.
Manage assignments of moderate complexity within defined authority levels.
Investigate, assess, and negotiate property claims, including low-complexity commercial matters.
Oversee all aspects of a claim, which may include hearings, arbitration, or small claims litigation.
Apply effective loss mitigation strategies to reduce exposure and expense.
Maintain confidentiality, productivity, and a high standard of customer service.
Ensure adequate internet connectivity when working remotely.
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
3–5 years of experience as a CAT or Property Adjuster.
Strong time management and organizational skills.
Skilled negotiator with the ability to achieve results without damaging relationships.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to foster open dialogue.
Solid understanding of insurance statutes, case law, and regulatory requirements.
Critical thinker with problem-solving skills and adaptability to changing priorities.
Team-oriented with the ability to collaborate effectively.
Comfortable making independent decisions within authorized limits.
Proficiency in using computers and standard office tools.
Willingness and ability to travel extensively (up to 75%).
Physical capability to sit/stand for long periods, drive 4–5 hours daily, frequently enter/exit vehicles, carry up to 30 lbs., and perform extended walking, bending, and climbing during inspections.
